New York Exhibition Co-Presented by GreenLight Features Notable Voices Sharing their Insights on Iconic Photos
NEW YORK (September 25, 2009) - Corbis (www.corbis.com), a leading visual media provider for the creative community celebrated its 20th anniversary with an exclusive Storied reception and exhibition last night for the creative community at the Art Directors Club Gallery in New York City. The Corbis Storied exhibition runs at the Art Directors Club Gallery through Monday, September 28, 2009.
The exhibition features a selection of iconic photos and commentaries from Corbis’ Storied (www.corbis.com/storied) an online experience that sheds new light on culturally and historically important photographs from the Corbis collection. Iconic personalities such as Bruce Lee, Steve McQueen and The Wright Brothers, represented by GreenLight (www.greenlightrights.com), a Corbis brand and leading rights representation, iconic media licensing and talent negotiation consultancy, are featured throughout Storied.
"We've been honored to collaborate with such an amazing group of people and hear them share some of their treasured stories with us," said Xerxes Irani, Creative Director, North America, Corbis. "A glance at a photo can instantly take you back to a moment in time, and it's been fascinating to have photos from the Corbis archive revive distant and unexpected memories from our commentators."
With more than 100 million editorial, creative, entertainment and historical images, the Corbis collection is a vital, growing archive of significant personalities, events and the natural world. Storied pays tribute to the importance of photography by pairing celebrated images with reflections from notable voices.
"Storied is a remarkable peek into the lives of icons like Johnny Cash, Steve McQueen and Bruce Lee," said David Reeder, Vice President, Greenlight. "They continue to influence contemporary culture, and we're proud to help expand upon their legacies."
Amongst others, the New York exhibition featured the following photos and contributors:
• Michael Jackson by Henry Diltz
• Jack Nicholson by Douglas Kirkland
• Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner by Robert Trachtenberg
